You know how they say it takes a whole village to raise a child? Well, that village was my family church. From my biblical recitals and my sisters forcing me to perform during special services knowing full well, I couldn’t hold a note to save my life. A huge part of things I learned while growing up was from the church and my biggest lesson till date is recognizing that there is a supreme being who controls all things
It is with that mindset that I have been able to attain my best days and overcome my worst. The country is going through very tough times and some entrepreneur’s and small business owners are definitely affected. So I thought to myself! What a great time to share 5 bible verses all entrepreneurs need.
1.Where there is no vision, the people perish (Proverbs 29:18)
If you have read any of my articles or heard me speak on entrepreneurship you know how much I encourage people to plan. And thankfully I have the backing of the scriptures. Ever wondered why businesses are told to have a mission and vision statement? Without a clear vision, you not only become Jack-of-all-trades, you probably end up as Jack with no trade. Your vision is your plan, your goal, that thing that keeps you focused when others aren’t. The reason you are able to save your money while your friends spend frivolously.
2. For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he (Proverbs 23:7)
I truly believe in this. If you don’t see that business as successful it probably never will be. Half of our problems as entrepreneurs start with our minds. Do you speak life into your business? Or do you constantly talk down on your vision? Remember that every thought sown brings forth its own seed. No matter what turn your business takes you need to have strong convictions about success.
3. The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight. (Proverbs 4:7)
This tells us the importance of studying and educating ourselves in our various fields. As an entrepreneur, you need wisdom daily. Wisdom when dealing with difficult clients, deciding who to hire or what products to advertise. Getting insight into your industry is also very important. Make an effort today to invest in an educational course, read a book or article that will help you grow mentally.
4. Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men (Proverbs 22:29)
My favorite scripture of all time! Not because it gives me the hope that I need as an entrepreneur but also because it reminds me to work hard and smart. As an entrepreneur it is very easy to remain lazy and make procrastination the order of the day instead of working with your vision, believing it will succeed and investing all the needed resources. Diligence is a major key to success
5. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint (Isaiah 40:31)
Enough said really Perseverance and patience are major keys in succeeding. You cannot sow your tomato seeds in the morning and harvest very ripe juicy tomatoes at night. Good things take time. Waiting for your business to succeed can be a very daunting process that is why I love how He promises us renewed strength.
